Keystone is the First Resort to Open… No Wait, It’s Arapahoe Basin!

For those who have not been following the Colorado ski resort rivalry, Vail Resorts has been upgrading Keystone with new snowmaking equipment to allow them to be the first resort open in North America. Neighboring ski resort Arapahoe Basin has been vocal about not wanting to give up its reputation and tradition as the first to open. This rivalry kicked off a few months ago when A-Basin made the announcement to break up with Vail Resorts and the Epic Pass in favor of joining the IKON pass.
October 11th, 11:55 am: Keystone Announces Opening Day is Tomorrow
Thanks to yesterday’s early-season snowstorm and the new snowmaking equipment, Keystone announced that it will open at 9:00 am on Saturday.
October 11th, 1:15 pm: A-Basin Announces Opening Day is today at 3:30 pm
In an apparent power move, A-basin scrambled the crew and threw together a quick social media announcement stating that they are opening… TODAY!
