U.S. Ski Team sweep!
Americans Sweep Dual Moguls Podium
Three U.S. women swept the dual moguls podium at the Intermountain Healthcare Freestyle International at Deer Valley on Friday. Kai Owens, Hannah Soar, and Tess Johnson represented the red, white, and blue for first, second and third at the World Cup moguls event on home soil.
This marks the the first time Americans have swept a dual moguls World Cup podium. But, the dominant performance was also historic for Kai Owens. She beat out teammate Hannah Soar in the big final for the win. At only 16 years old, this was her first career World Cup win, in only her 10th start. Tess Johnson beat Yulia Galysheva of Kazakhstan in the small final to round out the podium for the US.
Congratulations on Domination!
Tess Johnson knows just how special this win was, saying, “Ever since I’ve made the team I’ve wanted to see a podium sweep almost more than individual success. Sweeping the podium with these girls, it’s a dream come true, it really is. They’re my sisters, they’re my best friends, it feels unreal. It’s an honor to be on such a progressive, hardworking women’s team.”
Congrats to Kai Owens on the win, and to Hannah Soar and Tess Johnson for helping complete the sweep. Such a tremendous team effort. Can’t wait to see more from this #powHERhouse women’s moguls team as they head towards the winter Olympics in Beijing next year!
