Mikaela Shiffrin 44th Career Slalom Victory

Mikaela Wins in Austria

Starting to run out of words for it. But, saying it doesn’t seem to get old. Mikaela Shiffrin wins! The 25-year-old took first place in Tuesday’s slalom event under the lights in Flachau, Salzburg, Austria. Wow, try and say that ten times fast. You know who probably could? Mikaela. Because she has finished on the podium all eight times since the race under the lights began in 2013, including a record four wins.

Sounds Like A Broken Record

Records were made to be broken. And with each win, Mikaela continues to crush them. This is her 44th slalom victory, officially breaking the women’s record for most wins in a single discipline. The win was also her 68th overall, putting her in outright third place on the all-time winners list. Oh, also her 100th podium overall, a feat few men or women have ever accomplished. I am sure she is taking it one turn and one gate at a time, but one thing is for sure… She is skiing well, and if this continues, only a matter of time until more records meet their new master.

Not A One Woman Show

All eyes are often on Mikaela and with good reason, but she’s not the only American lady putting in work on the World Cup this season! AJ Hurt scored career-first super-G AND career-first slalom points in the span of three days in Austria. That means she’s scored points in 4 separate events this season. And, friend of the Fast & Loose IG Show, Paula Moltzan, finished with a career best 9th in the Flachau slalom. Congrats to all of these ladies and the US Ski Team!
