Two Ski Themed Beers Worthy of the Legendary Town They’re From
Let’s face it, when it comes to beverage choices at après-ski, beer is king. There is just nothing like the first beer following a day of earning it with countless laps on the mountain. It’s tasty, refreshing and with so many craft breweries popping up around the country, there are an abundance of really tasty brews to choose from. Many of these breweries are even located in the high country we ski and ride in. Enhanced by their connection to the mountain culture and with passionate skiers and riders running the show these breweries are producing ski themed beers that reflect this relationship. Two of my favorites that are absolutely crushing it in this category are Roadhouse Brewing Company and Melvin Brewing.
Located in the heart of the iconic ski town of Jackson Hole, both Roadhouse and Melvin are brewing some seriously good beers no matter what the season. About a year ago, both also released the first batch of their respective ski themed beers and upon tasting them, they instantly catapulted to the top of my list of favorites.
Kick Back, Relax and Loosen Your Boots
Loose Boots Après IPA, brewed by Roadhouse Brewing Company in collaboration with their Jackson Hole neighbor Stio is as good of a session IPA that I have had. When the first sip touches your lips, your are hit with face shot of hops that is not overbearing and oh so flavorful. The hits keep on coming with waves of citrus that will only enhance the blood flow back into your toes and help you forget you ever even had ski boots on.
Drink While Visions of Stoke Dance in Your Head
Melvin Brewing’s PilGnar, brewed with outdoor media mogul, Teton Gravity Research is as gnarly as the name suggests. Pils Gnar is a totally refreshing and flavorful pilsner. Its perfect blend of bread-like sweetness and mild hop bitterness will have you going full send into a blissful dream of pillow lines, steep couloirs and stoke.
There is no doubt that you should add these two incredible beers to you must try list this ski season. And be sure to check out our recent video on All About Après where I double fist these two brews while hucking it into the depths on each beer, their flavors and how to properly pair them. Cheers!
