5 Summer Beers To Keep Après Alive
The snow has melted, resorts are closed and you feel like you’ve been orphaned by winter. Good thing there’s beer to get you by. Based on our own taste buds and some recommendations from you, we’ve compiled this short list of brews to get you through the hot, sticky summer months.
#1 -- Dry Dock's Apricot Blonde Ale
It’s light, crisp and has a subtle sweetness. Each sip packs a nice fruity touch, but not so much that it slaps you in the face like a beer that’s trying to moonlight as sangria. We recommend enjoying during backyard BBQs, tailgates or just anytime you’re in the mood for a delicious summer beer.
#2 -- Lawson's Super Session #8
Too hot for the taste of an IPA? Not if you’re drinking the Lawson’s Super Session #8. This very drinkable ale packs all of the hoppy punch IPA fans are looking for without the heaviness and the high alcohol content making this brew a great summer sidekick. All of Lawson’s Super Sessions are brewed starting with the same malt and special malt base, but their character changes with the type of hops. We’re big fans of #8 which is why it’s #2 on our list.
#3 -- Upslope's Thai Style White IPA
For those of you that are looking for an unusual and unique seasonal brew, look no further than Upslope Brewing Company’s Thai Style White IPA. This limited release is brewed with a variety of seven Asian-inspired spices giving it a wild mix of citrus and subtle spice. It doesn’t take a sommelier’s palate to know that this beer pairs best with – wait for it – Pad Thai. This beer also plays nicely with seafood dishes.
#4 -- EBC's Blueberry Wheat
#5 -- Corona Extra (Don't Laugh)
Ok, don’t laugh, but the #5 cerveza on our list is an ice cold Corona. Admit it – there is nothing better than cracking one of these open on a super hot day. The light, refreshing taste won’t bog you down during the hottest heat waves. We don’t need to tell you this, but it’s best accessorized with lime and friends and more Corona.
